M.MED SC Hons, B.Sc. (Physio.) Hons, M.I.S.C.P., Sports Med

Michael Spillane qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist from Trinity College Dublin in 1988. Upon graduation Michael established “First Physio Plus” specialising in Sports and Back / Neck related problems, located in Clondalkin Leisure Centre and looking after local soccer, Gaelic and rugby clubs.

Over the next number of years Michael worked in the Royal Hospital Donnybrook, Naas Hospital, Peamount Hospital and as a Community Physiotherapist based in Cherry Orchard Hospital. He was Physio to Bective Rangers Rugby FC and Leinster Rugby representative sides. He continued doing various courses and completed a Masters in Sports Medicine at University College Dublin.

In the 90s Michael was approached by Bohemians Soccer club and was their Physio for 4 years. He was Physio to the League of Ireland representative sides and went on to work with Shamrock Rovers and St Patricks Athletic. He also began working with the FAI, traveling with their national teams. He retired from the FAI in July 2019 after the Under 19 European finals in Armenia. He had worked with every age group in the FAI (boys and girls)from the Senior International teams To the Under 15s.

At present, Michael’s main interest is neck / back / pelvic related problems. He still sees Sports Injuries.

In his free time Michael likes to keep active. Did first triathlon in 1989, did full Ironman distance Bolton 2012 and still participates in Triathlons.
